Digital assistants can be wonderful additions to our lives. They can provide information when we need it, save reminders and appointments to our calendars, and answer our questions before we could even pick up our phones. But assistants can do many more things, as well. Here are five creative things you can ask your assistant to do.
For Personal Tech Media, this is Two Minute Tech. I’m Jim Herman.
First, your assistant can serve as a tie breaker. Need to break a tie between two people? Have your assistant flip a coin. If you have more people involved in the tie, ask your assistant to roll a die or pick a random number instead.
Second, your digital assistant can do conversions for you. Need to know what $100 is in Euros or Ugandan shillings? Need to convert between feet and meters or Celsius and Fahrenheit? Just ask your assistant to do the math for you.
Third, your digital assistant can translate between languages. Ask your assistant, “how do I say how are you in Spanish?” and your assistant will respond with the answer.
Fourth, your assistant can look up flight schedules, delays, and traffic conditions. It can also estimate the time it will take to drive between two destinations.
And fifth, your assistant can also provide some entertainment. Need a joke? Ask your assistant to tell you one. Ask for a poem and your assistant will make one up for you. Your assistant can also perform songs or throw down a beat. And the people who program these devices typically hide some hidden tricks and features in the code. Search the Internet to find some for your device or try being a little crazy and see if you can find one on your own.
