Hi, it’s Jim with a quick note before we begin. For the next two episodes, I’ll cover some phone features you may not know about. Today’s episode will discuss the elements of iPhones and tomorrow’s episode will discuss the features of Android phones. So no matter which type of phone you have, we have you covered.
It seems that there’s no end to the number of things you can get your smartphone to do. Personally, I’m waiting on someone to finish a laundry-folding app. But if you have an iPhone, here are five features on your phone that you might not know about.
For Personal Tech Media, this is Two Minute Tech. I’m Jim Herman.
The first feature is the Measure app, an app built-in to iOS. You can use this app on your phone to measure the distance between two points or to check if something is level. However, it only rounds to the nearest half inch, so you’ll need to use something else if you need a more precise measurement.
Second, if you get added to a very active iMessage conversation, you can mute it. Open iMessage, touch and hold the conversation, and select “Hide Alerts.”
Third, if you’ve started typing and realize you haven’t been hitting the letters you want, you can undo that typing just by shaking your phone. Shake your phone quickly and then press the “Undo” option in the dialog box to remove the text you’ve typed.
Fourth, you can use your iPhone’s camera to magnify something you want to see. Go to Settings > Control Center, and add the magnifier to your Control Center options. Then swipe up from the bottom of your screen and you’ll see the magnifying glass.
And fifth, you can tell your phone to perform a specific action when you tap the back two or three times. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap, and then select the Double Tap or Triple Tap option to choose the action that will occur.
