When it comes to travel, who doesn’t want to save a little money while still getting the full benefit of the trip? Fortunately, there are some tech tools that can help you save money as you travel. Here are five of those tools that can help you save some cash while still maximizing the benefits of your trip.
For Personal Tech Media, this is Two Minute Tech. I’m Jim Herman.
First, when it’s time to book your travel, use a different device or a private browser tab. Companies will often monitor when you have made the exact search multiple times, and the site may inflate the price each time you look to scare you into booking before the price increases even more.
Second, the local residents can be a huge help once you arrive. The locals can point you to places that are just as enjoyable without the high cost.
Third, look for walking or driving tours that are free or cheap. When I visited Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains last year, I found an app that offered a $3 audio tour. Thanks to that tour, we made stops at several places we might not have otherwise visited.
Fourth, if your dates or locations are flexible, use the SkyScanner app or theflightdeal.com to search for the best fares. Both of these sites can offer incredible prices to luxurious destinations.
And fifth, if you don’t have the money to travel, consider picking up a gig to cover some of the cost. You can do a few side gigs like house sitting, gardening, or tutoring a local in English to make a little cash or get free room and board while you’re on your trip.
