Spell check was wonderful, but it could only recognize when the misspelled word was not an English word. Spell check has always been a double-edged sword. It was a fantastic benefit, but it could also give us a false sense of security by not flagging words that didn’t make sense. But now, we have tools that take us beyond spell check. Here are a few great options.

Several new grammar checking systems harness the power of artificial intelligence. Unlike spell check, these check your sentence structure and aim to improve your grammar and punctuation as well.
Our first example of a grammar checker is the free Hemingway editor. Just go to Hemingwayapp.com and either type your message or paste your content. Hemingway will flag sentences that it classifies as hard to read. It will also make suggestions about your writing.
Second, Grammarly offers a basic grammar check for free. This program checks your spelling, punctuation, and basic grammar. The premium plan also has additional reviews if you’re willing to pay.
Third, ProWritingAid has a cheaper subscription than Grammarly, but I found it to be a bit more challenging. However, it’s worth looking into if you’re considering paying for Grammarly, but don’t like the high price.
If you want something that will help you write, Jasper is an AI-powered copywriting tool. It will not only help you with proper grammar, but it can help spark your creativity as a writer.
And finally, Microsoft recently released the Microsoft Editor, a browser extension that checks your content as you type.
