Another week brings yet another tech company announcing its latest and greatest products. Last week was Facebook’s turn to introduce its newest products at its Meta Connect event. Here’s what’s on the horizon from Meta.

Meta’s hardware announcement was its new Quest 3 headset, which the company says is its most significant movement towards Meta’s vision for the future. The Quest 3 features an improved display and an upgraded chipset, which Meta says will double the graphics performance.

It also slimmed down the controllers and improved the rate of power consumption. However, it appears that Meta has channeled the power consumption savings into performance instead of battery life. The Quest 3’s battery life is very similar to what came with the Quest 2. The Quest 3 will also come with rechargeable batteries for the controllers, which was something many users were already doing.

Meanwhile, Facebook and Instagram will soon add a wide array of AI-powered tools for creators. Meta’s Restyle tool will allow users to upload a picture and have it edited into a particular style, such as a watercolor. The backdrop feature will enable users to add AI-generated backgrounds to their images.

And finally, Meta also announced an AI image generator. Named Emu, it will power various services on Meta’s platforms. Meta says it can generate images from a prompt in as little as five minutes.
