We begin with news from the fashion company Forever 21, which announced that a data breach revealed in March was much more expansive than previously thought. Over half a million customers and employees had information that was compromised in the breach.

Data that was stolen could include names, dates of birth, bank account numbers, social security numbers, and information regarding enrollment in the Forever 21 health plan. Forever 21 has contacted those impacted, and the company is offering 12 months of identity monitoring.

Second, the golf supply giant Callaway revealed a data breach that occurred at the beginning of August, which affected over 1.1 million online users. The data stolen in this breach could include full name and address, email and phone, order histories, and account passwords.

And finally, the Treasury Department’s Inspector General revealed the IRS is unsure of the location of thousands of tapes containing millions of submitted tax forms. According to the report, some data submitted for the 2010, 2018, and 2019 tax years cannot be located. The information on those tapes could be used to submit fraudulent tax refunds or to steal identities.
