I would love to go back in time and stop myself from sending some emails containing a typo or a mistake. No matter how good spell check and grammar check gets, some words still work grammatically but aren’t what you intended to say. However, there’s a trick that can help you recognize these typos.
For Personal Tech Media, this is Two Minute Tech. I’m Jim Herman.
If you hear the text that you’ve written read back to you, you’re much more likely to catch errors and typos than if you read it back yourself. Fortunately, there are multiple places that can read your writing back to you for free.
First, if you use Microsoft Word, the program can read anything back to you. Just highlight the text you want read, right-click on it, and choose the “Read Aloud” option. In my opinion, Word has the most natural sounding artificial voice of any of these options.
Second, if you don’t have Word, you can also use Google Translate. To have it read content back to you, you have to go to the Google Translate page, translate.google.com, not the box that shows up in search results. Paste your text on the left side and then click the speaker icon in the bottom left corner to play the audio.
And finally, if you don’t have Word and you don’t want to use Google, you can go to ttsreader.com. Paste your text into the box or upload a file and you can hear it read back to you. You can also scroll down and enter a URL to have any webpage read to you.
Plus, if you have some time to spare, you can also press the “Play a Random Interesting Article” button, which does exactly what the description says.
