In a time of high gas prices, electric vehicles have seen a surge in popularity. However, charging stations for electric cars aren’t nearly as plentiful as gas stations for traditional vehicles. If you’re traveling in an EV and need to charge up, here are three apps that can help you locate nearby charging stations.

For Personal Tech Media, this is Two Minute Tech. I’m Jim Herman.

First, the app PlugShare claims to be the most complete guide to charging stations worldwide. You can filter your search by the plug type, the charging speed, the network, and whether the station is free or paid. Do understand that PlugShare’s data is primarily crowdsourced, so look at a station’s recent reviews before you trust the information provided.

Second, the app EV Hotels focuses on locating charging stations at or near hotels. The app allows you to check if your hotel offers a charging station or find charging stations within walking distance. If you don’t have a hotel booked, you can also search for hotels with chargers nearby and then book one right through the app. However, EV Hotels does cost $2.99, and it’s only available on iOS.

Third, ChargePoint has the world’s largest network of EV charging stations, so it only makes sense that you can find all of its charging stations through its app. If you link your ChargePoint account to the app, you can pay for your charging immediately. But the app isn’t limited to just ChargePoint stations. You can also use the roaming feature to locate charging stations from other providers right in the ChargePoint app.
