Summary
Last week, Twitter announced it would stop offering text message two-factor authentication to users that were not subscribed to the paid Twitter Blue program. The change was billed as a move to improve security for these accounts. However, there are holes in the story Twitter is telling, and it turns out that while they are correct about text message 2FA, the change is likely being implemented for a completely different reason.
