Summary
If you host a get-together in your home, you might spend a lot of time telling people your Wifi password. However, there’s an easier way to share it than to keep sharing the password each time you’re asked. Set up a QR code, print it out, and your guests can scan it to be added to your network.

If you often have guests over to your home or you’re hosting a get-together, you’ll probably be ready to have them ask for your Wi-Fi password. However, there’s an easier way to distribute your Wi-Fi credentials without needing to answer the “what’s the Wi-Fi password?” question many times over. Here’s how you can pass it out with a simple QR code.
For Personal Tech Media, this is Two Minute Tech. I’m Jim Herman.
It might sound like it would be more challenging to create a QR code than to tell everyone the Wi-Fi password. However, with the help of one website, creating that QR code is not complicated.
Just visit qifi.com. It’s spelled like Wi-Fi, just starting with a Q instead. Enter your Wi-Fi name, password, and encryption type. Your computer will generate a QR code to save as an image or to print. You can post this QR code around your home so the guests can connect quickly.
If you don’t know your Wi-Fi name, you can find it on any device that’s already connected to the network. Go to the Wi-Fi settings and you will see it listed there. If you don’t know the password, finding it will be a little bit more complicated. However, you can still see it on most of your devices.
Also, note that many websites promise to generate a Wi-Fi QR code for you. However, some of them will send your details over the internet. This website does everything in your web browser so your Wi-Fi details are never sent anywhere else. While the risk of a stolen Wi-Fi login is small, it’s not a threat that you can completely ignore. Generating the QR code on your computer is the most secure way to create that code.
